The following is a news release from the Idaho Transportation Department.

RIGBY – Seal coating on Interstate 15 between Idaho Falls and Sage Junction, funded from proceeds of increased fuel taxes and vehicle registration fees, will begin Wednesday (June 8). The seal coat is scheduled for completion June 30.

Travel will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The speed limit in work areas will be reduced to 45 miles per hour.

Motorists should observe posted speed limits and keep a safe distance from other vehicles to reduce potential windshield damage.

Commercial drivers transporting permitted loads wider than 16 feet need to contact Resident Engineer Matt Davison (208-745-5686) or Staff Engineer Kade Raymond (208-745-5316) 24 hours in advance for special authorization to pass through the construction zones.

The transportation department awarded HK Contractors Inc., of Idaho Falls, the $1.5 million contract.

In December 2015, the Idaho Transportation Board selected road and bridge projects for maintenance and repair work as part of the Idaho Transportation Department’s Strategic Initiatives Program (SIP), authorized by the Idaho Legislature. This seal coating is one of those projects using funds allocated by the Idaho Legislature in the state’s first transportation-revenue increase in nearly two decades.
