Construction on Holmes Avenue starts Monday

The following is a news release from the city of Idaho Falls.

IDAHO FALLS — Construction for the waterline replacement project on South Holmes Ave. is set to begin Monday.

The waterline replacement will affect roads from 9th Street to Cleveland Street. A city news release reports full road closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. with work potentially being done on Sundays as well. Businesses within the construction zone will be accessible from side streets only during the times of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

This project will replace water, storm, and sewer systems; curb gutter and utility crossings; sidewalk repair at the utility crossings; base gravel; and asphalt paving.

There will also be a 24-hour closure to roadways from 8th Street to 7th Street for three days beginning June 17. The closure will accommodate a sanitary sewer crossing replacement. Businesses can be accessed from side streets during this time.

Construction will last for about four months. Throughout this period the public is advised to watch for equipment and workers, follow traffic signs and flaggers and reduced speeds to posted limits.
