Two vehicle injury crash on I-15 near Blackfoot

The following is a news release from the Idaho State Police.

BLACKFOOT — Idaho State Police are investigating a two vehicle injury crash northbound on Interstate 15 at milepost 95, near Blackfoot.

The accident occurred at about 5 p.m. Friday and blocked lanes of travel for about 1.5 hours, according to a news release.

Luis Gonzalez-Delacruz, 31 of Santa Maria, California, was driving a Chevy pickup. Gonzalez-Delacruz was attempting to pass a semi driven by William Morton, 62 of Idaho Falls, when he blew a tire.

Gonzalez-Delacruz went off the left shoulder and struck the guardrail, his vehicle came back onto the roadway and struck the semi trailer, overturning in the lanes of travel. Gonzalez-Delacruz was transported to Bingham Memorial Medical Center by ground ambulance.

All occupants involved were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The crash is still under investigation at this time.
