Boise man gets special package 26 years after being sent

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) — A former postal worker in Boise knows some packages take a while longer to arrive.

One thing he also knows is it is very rare to receive a package a quarter-century after it was sent.

Marvin Wilson isn’t upset that his mail showed up late.

Instead, he is thankful for the surprise that came full of memories.

“I was going through the mail and I noticed I got a little package,” Wilson told KBOI 2News. “The package has a date of April 23, 1990; 26 years, two months and 19 days it gets here.”

Wilson got his hands on the piece of mail and noticed it came from his mother, who died eight years ago.

At first, he thought it was joke and wondered if a family member was pranking him.

“As soon as I got the package and realized who it was from and what it was,” Wilson explained. “I emailed my sister, I called my sister, and I Facebooked my sister and says ‘what are doing? What’s going on here?'”

In the old envelope was a stack of pictures of his wife, sister and brother-in-law from a trip to Las Vegas.

The package was at first delivered to the wrong address. He’s thankful the recipient forwarded the mail so it finally reached him.
