EAST IDAHO EATS: The toppings never end at Rizo’s Pizza

AMMON — A new pizza place in Ammon is serving customers all of the toppings they want for one flat rate.

“Everybody can come in and get whatever they want on the pizza,” Rizo’s Pizza Owner Jamie Rhoda tells EastIdahoNews.com. “It doesn’t change the price and the pizza is literally cooked in three or four minutes.

Locally owned Rizo’s Pizza opened just a few weeks ago near Edwards Cinema in Ammon.

The restaurant already has pie fans raving about their handcrafted, artisan-style pizza that features a thinner crust. This means the pizza cooks faster and can be a healthier alternative to regular pizza.

“What I love about Rizo’s is it’s a fun environment, it’s new and it’s really comfortable place to be,” customer Tiffany Dalling says. “I love their pizza because they are fresh and use all new ingredients.”

Customer Renee Coates enjoys the made-to-order pizza process and is pleased with the available topping options.

“I usually get the red sauce with pepperoni, Canadian Bacon, artichokes, red peppers and I get no cheese,” Coates says. “I’m allergic to dairy so I like that they can make it without cheese for me. Plus it’s not greasy and doesn’t have a heavy feeling when you eat it.”

Rhoda says customers are welcome to customize any order or try a taste of one of Rizo’s originals.

Most of its originals are infused with homemade red or white sauces and gooey mozzarella cheese.

“A lot of these are just family recipes,” Rhoda said. “The pizza’s are named after my kids– one through six — and the number seven pizza is actually named after a niece (Tristan) that passed away.”

For customers who’ve never tried Rizo’s, Rhoda recommends the ‘True’ or ‘Willow’ pizza.

“The Willow has a garlic rub with some cheese and then some artichoke and parmesan,” Rhoda says. “After we cook it, we put red sauce dollops on top of it.”

If customers are looking for dishes other than pizza, Rizo’s also offers fresh salads, cinnamon strips (breadsticks), a cookie dessert called the Rizookie and drinks like blackberry lemonade and bottled sodas.

“You can come and build whatever you want. That’s the beauty of it,” Rhoda said.

Rizo’s is open Monday through Thursday at 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Find Rizo’s Pizza on Facebook or Instagram.
