UPDATE: Medical helicopter called to crash involving train and SUV

The following is a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

On 7/16/2016 at approximately 4:28, Jefferson County Deputies responded to the city of Roberts to the report of a vehicle versus train collision located at the intersection of 650 N and 2800 E.

The vehicle was driven by Vanessa Flores. The passengers included her husband David Flores-Ramirez and three juvenile family members. Roberts QRU, and Idaho Falls Ambulance responded. The occupants were treated the at the scene. It appears there was no major injuries, however the three juveniles were transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for precautionary measures.

Union Pacific dispatched an investigator to the scene, and the circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind all drivers to pay attention at railroad crossings, and to obey the flashing lights or cross arms even if trains do not appear to be in the area.

ROBERTS — A medical helicopter has been called to a crash involving a train and an SUV. There are reports that at least one person has been seriously injured and multiple emergency crews are on the scene.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on train tracks located at East 650 North near North 2884 East in Roberts.
