Rexburg police chief addresses officer’s controversial Instagram posts

REXBURG — Rexburg Police Chief Shane Turman spoke with the media Wednesday afternoon about controversial images posted on an officer’s Instagram account.

Sgt. Ray Hermosillo, a 15-year veteran, admitted to sharing two images on his account that some consider racist. The police department began receiving complaints Tuesday afternoon, and the posts are being investigated.

At the news conference Turman stressed that Hermosillo has not been suspended or terminated, but is under investigation.
