UPDATE 10:00 a.m. Wednesday

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of Tuesday’s drowning as 28-year-old Alexander Razzolini of Jackson, Wyoming.

ORIGINAL STORY

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office responded to two different water situations this afternoon. Here is information provided about both incidents:

Situation #1

At approximately 12:22 p.m., Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Idaho Falls ambulance crews were called to the area of Fall Creek on the Snake River to a report of a male in the river. As Deputies arrived, they found that three men were on a gravel bar approximately two miles upstream from the Falls at Fall Creek when the raft they were using came loose and floated back out in to the current.

One of the subjects, an adult man, attempted to swim after the raft and didn’t return. Another boater located the raft and the other two males.

As first responders were on the water searching, the victim was located by a deputy floating near a gravel bar above the Spring Creek Boat Ramp. The victim was found deceased and it’s estimated he was in the water for approximately an hour. The victim was not wearing a life jacket when he was discovered.

The name and age of the victim will not be released at this time pending notification of family.

Situation #2

At approximately 1:24 p.m., Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies and Idaho Falls ambulance responded to the Snake River near Freeman Park and John’s Hole Forebay where it was reported an inflatable kayak was seen floating in the river with no one around. First responders located the kayak near John’s Hole Bridge as well as a pair of shoes floating in the water.

As deputies were searching the area and nearby boat ramps, they were contacted by a relative of the kayak owner advising that the owner was out of the water and accounted for. Apparently the kayak overturned near the diversion upstream from Freeman Park and the occupant was able to get out to the bank, eventually contacting family about what happened.

Information received at the scene was that the kayak owner was not injured and his name and information is not available.
