AMMON –- If you’re looking for good food and friendly service with a smile, a new soda shack in Ammon can give you just that and more.

Pick Me Up has gotten on hottest food trend that has taken east Idaho by a fizzy storm — customizable flavored sodas. Or, as co-founder Josh Searle likes to call them “glorified sodas.”

“Anybody can transact a pop and a cookie. Pick Me Up is so much more. We want people to come to get a pick-me-up,” Searle said. “We’re about the human connection.”

For workers it’s more than offering a sweet treat. It’s about staying true to the expression and giving those who walk up, or drive through, the “Pick Me Up experience.”

“You go to work and you make other peoples day, and they make your day, and it’s awesome. It’s a great experience for us and hopefully them,” employee Marissa Pulsipher said.

To start soda makers use your favorite soda or energy drink as the base of your order. They then add purees like pina colada, mango or raspberry, or syrups like coconut, Irish Cream, or blackberry. Customers can pick from signature drink combinations off Pick Me Up’s “Flavorite” menu, or customize their own.

“One of our most famous drinks is the booster with your Mountain Dew, with raspberry puree, and we add either a mango or a peach. It’s almost like drinking a glorified piece of candy. It’s super, super good.”

Choose sizes starting at the from the eight ounce “Kiddyup” to the “Pick Me Way.”

Along with refreshing drink, customers can choose a treat out of four cookie options, a frosted sugar cookie, a non-raisin oatmeal cookie, a soft peanut butter cookie, and the classic chocolate chip cookie.

Searle says his favorite is the non-raisin oatmeal cookie.

“People who hated their grandmas raisin cookie, not a problem anymore,” Searle said.

Customer Michael Hyde said it was his first time trying the goods from the soda/treat shop, and said it was exactly what he needed.

“I definitely needed a pick me up. I just had baby born, three weeks old. (I’m) not (getting) very much sleep so the extra caffeine and sugar is definitely helping me get through my work day,” Hyde said.
