VICTOR — Fire season this year has left firefighters battling many active fires across the state. Here’s an update on the Tie Canyon Fire near Victor.

A Level One evacuation order has been issued to residents and property owners south of 10,000 South, east of Highway 31, and west of 1000 West (Pole Canyon Road) in addition to Hidden Waters Subdivision. This means residents need to be prepared to evacuate, but as of right now, there is no need to evacuate.

Because power lines are in the vicinity of the fire, regional power outages may occur. At this time, it is not necessary for citizens to reduce electrical use.

The start of the fire is under investigation, although officers say it was man-made.

This fire now encompasses 1,242 acres and is still moving slowly.

Multiple areas are closed including “areas west of Pole Canyon. Tie Canyon Road 252 and Upper Rainey Creek Road 253 remain closed. Highway 31 is open; however, it is strongly recommended to minimize traffic on Highway 31.”

According to inciweb.wncg.gov, there will be a Public Meeting addressing the Tie Canyon Fire at Victor Elementary School on Friday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m. at Victor Elementary School, 43 E. Center St.
