UPDATE:
Authorities told EastIdahoNews.com Wednesday that Hansen’s death was caused by an ATV rolling on top of him.

ORIGINAL STORY (published Tuesday):
GILMORE — The Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office confirms the body of a man missing from Gilmore since Sunday has been found.

The location of Allen Hansen’s body has not been released, but Lemhi County Sheriff Lynn Bowerman tells EastIdahoNews.com he was discovered late this afternoon.

Bowerman says Hansen’s death is not considered suspicious.

The Idaho National Guard and Civil Air Patrol assisted today in the search for Hansen, 57, who was last seen on a yellow four-wheeler in the Gilmore area within the Challis National Foresta man who disappeared Sunday morning.

Hansen lived in Iona with his wife and they spent their weekends in the Gilmore area where they owned property and were building a cabin.

Deputies say on Sunday morning, Hansen told his wife he’d be back shortly. When he didn’t return by that evening, she became concerned and asked neighbors for help prior to calling police.

Neighbors searched trails in the area Sunday night. The search continued Monday with a helicopter equipped with a thermal camera.

The Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office had over 40 searchers looking for Hansen.
