SPRINGFIELD — The 16-year-old girl who died in a single vehicle crash near this western Bingham County town has been identified as Karla Neyeli Gomez-Pacheco of Firth.

Authorities said two teenage boys, one of whom was the driver of the car, were also injured in the crash, which occurred just after 6 a.m. Saturday on Highway 39.

The boys, both from Blackfoot, were transported via ambulance to Bingham Memorial Hospital following the wreck. The Sheriff’s Office reported Sunday that the boys were likely still at Bingham Memorial, though there injuries are considered non-life threatening.

The crash occurred when the car’s 17-year-old male driver drifted off the road and the vehicle overturned, authorities said. Gomez-Pacheco, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the names of two teenage boys.

The wreck remains under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office said more information will be released Tuesday.
