Felony charges for man who ordered and ate food with no money

IDAHO FALLS — A 35-year-old man has been arrested on two felony burglary charges after alleged ‘dine and dash’ incident.

Police were called to the Sandpiper Restaurant at 750 Lindsay Boulevard around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday for a man, David E. Stadler , that was reportedly known to ‘dine and dash’.

Restaurant management told police they had been notified by another restaurant manager that Stadler had been in his restaurant the day before and had skipped out on his bill after ordering food and drinks.

Sandpiper employees say they confronted Stadler about paying his bill but Stadler did not have any money.

When Officer’s arrived they arrested Stadler for burglary, police say Stadler is believed to have ordered food and left without paying at several restaurants.

Attempts to reach Idaho Falls police regarding their statement about alleged thefts at other restaurants were unsuccessful.

Stadler is held in the Bonneville County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
