Idaho Falls paint shop significantly damaged in fire

IDAHO FALLS — A paint shop suffered $10,000 in damage due to a fire that started Tuesday evening.

The Idaho Falls Fire Department was dispatched to 2011 W. Heyrend Way, off of South Yellowstone Highway, around 5 p.m. for a structure fire. The building was being used as a paint shop.

The department responded with two engines, one ladder truck, three ambulances, a safety officer and a battalion chief for a total of 17 personnel.

After arriving on scene, crews found a medium-sized commercial structure with smoke coming from the eves and roof line.

The first and second engines were used to make an aggressive interior attack while the ladder truck was used to check for extension onto the roof. The fire was quickly extinguished and was contained to the structure.

The suspected cause of the fire is from either radiant heat or an ember from a fireplace inside the building igniting floor mats and then extending up the walls and into the ceiling.

There were no injuries reported to the occupants or firefighters.
