IDAHO FALLS — Two people who told law enforcement they were robbed were actually the ones doing the robbing, Idaho Falls police said.

Officers arrested 19‐year‐old William J. Fowler and 22‐year‐old Charisse L. Scheer for attempted robbery and filing a false police report Wednesday afternoon.

Fowler and Scheer, both of Idaho Falls, contacted police around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday to report a robbery that occurred Tuesday night.

The pair claimed a 33‐year‐old man, who they were driving around town with Tuesday night, had robbed them at gunpoint, taking their phone, wallets and car.

Police said they found Fowler and Scheer lied about the course of events the night before. Fowler and Scheer actually attempted to rob the 33‐year‐old man and threatened him with a baseball bat, they said.

Both were booked into the Bonneville County Jail and were held without bond until they make a their first court appearance Thursday afternoon.
