REXBURG– Brigham Young University-Idaho is bringing back the professionals while helping others discover their passion through its highly-rated networking conference.

The Power to Become, or P2B, is a professional development conference that teaches participants to discover their passion, network effectively and tell their story through the means of social media.

“I had the specific opportunity to interact with amazing people I may have otherwise not come in contact with,” student Doug Knuth said after attending previous conferences.

Participants can look forward to a fun, engaging atmosphere with inspirational speakers, audience participation games and entertainment, according to organizer Will Gierke.

“We feel it is vital to network and find a passion because we believe people do the most good when they are following their passion,” Gierke said. “The university emphasizes the principle of networking because it is essential in securing job opportunities.”

The conference began in 2014 and happens every nine months. Organizers say the event isn’t a traditional workshop, but an experience. Participants are taught in an upbeat and engaging environment.

“Power to Become has been a phenomenal experience for me. I love hearing the stories of individuals who came from this school (BYU-Idaho/Ricks College) and made something of themselves,” Knuth said. “Power to Become helped me see the amazing potential that my education at BYU-Idaho has.”

Speakers include BYU-Idaho President Clark Gilbert, blogger and award winning speaker Al Fox Carraway known as the“Tattooed Mormon”, best selling author and strategic business advisor Richie Norton, Administrative Business partner in Google’s Research and Machine Intelligence Division Tim Ng, and more.

Vocal Point, an A cappella group from BYU, is set to perform at the conclusion of the conference.

Participants will have the chance to mingle with speakers and invited professionals during a networking mixer prior to the event on Thursday, Oct. 27.

The conference will Friday, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Locals and students can sign up for the Power to Become conference online.

“For those who have never gone I say that it’s worth your time to go. There aren’t many conferences like this in the world, and any other one would be far more expensive, far less intimate, and far less exciting,” Knuth said.
