East Idaho Eats: Tommy Vaughn’s Grill puts you on the sidelines while dining
Published at | Updated atBLACKFOOT– Never mind watching the game on your couch with dinner in hand. At Tommy Vaughn’s Grill in Blackfoot, customers can enjoy a gourmet meal while watching all of their favorite sports.
“There’s really no restaurants in Blackfoot like this place where you can sit down and have a drink, have a meal with any game you want on,” Manager Camille Rupe says.
Tommy Vaughn’s is equipped with a bar, and televisions at almost every angle. It has a high end interior with sports paraphernalia draping the walls. Rupe says customers come and watch almost any sport, but it varies depending on the season.
“We do baseball, football, golf… whatever you want,” Rupe says.
The restaurant just celebrated its 5th anniversary on Oct. 17. Customer Margaret Peterson says since it’s opened, Tommy Vaughn’s has become one of her favorite local places to dine.
“I come with my husband and our family, and also with my good friends because it’s such a nice place. It has such a nice atmosphere and it’s so nice to visit here,” Peterson says.
Customers say there is a variety of menu options to try at the bar and grill. Rupe says they work to keep everything fresh. She says the salads and daily soups are delicious and if customers want to mix it up there’s always an in-house meal special.
“The flat iron steak is pretty good, and so (are) the burgers,” customer Jason Greer says.
“We have fresh prime rib. We have a chicken cordon bleu, which is really popular,” Rupe says.
Rupe says the chicken cordon bleu is definitely the most requested entree. It’s chicken breast stuffed with ham, and swiss cheese, then coated with a Alfredo sauce. It sits atop seasoned rice, with a loaded baked potato, and a fresh roll on the side.
“It’s just something different. Not a lot of places have it around here. Our chef when we first opened up he came up with it. It’s just kind of a Tommy Vaughn’s thing,” Rupe said.
Customers say they can’t get enough of the atmosphere at Tommy Vaughn’s. It’s a place where they know they can take a load off and be taken care of.
“The setting, the TVs always got sports playing and the service is great,” Greer says.
Rupe says workers make customers their first priority.
“I think when you have happy customers people keep coming back and that’s what we try to do. We try to make this restaurant a place where people want to be,” Rupe says.
