Local sports shop kicks of ‘Cranksgiving’ event to collect turkeys

POCATELLO — Barrie’s Ski and Sports is kicking off its third annual ‘Cranksgiving’ event by collecting turkeys at their Pocatello location.

The goal this year is to collect one thousand turkeys or $12,000.

On Nov. 19 the business will take all the turkeys that have been collected and bike the turkeys to the Eastern Idaho Food Bank in Pocatello.

If you want the money to stay local, you can write a check to ‘Cranksgiving’ or take a turkey to Barrie’s Ski and Sports in Pocatello and put it in the ‘Cranksgiving’ freezer.

“It helps our community. There’s such a shortage for turkey’s and the families here in Pocatello and it’s important that we keep these turkeys and our money at a local level and there’s a lot of families that go without Thanksgiving,” says Tami Parris, local ‘Cranksgiving’ organizer.

The bike riding event to deliver the turkeys starts at 10 a.m. on Nov. 19 at Barrie’s Ski and Sports in Pocatello.
