IDAHO FALLS — A 34-year-old parolee has been released from the hospital after he allegedly fled from police and crashed into parked cars.

Idaho Falls Police report William Stebelton crashed into two parked cars while fleeing from officers, according to a news release last week.

Stebelton has several felony convictions out of Ada County, he was released from prison and placed on parole in May of this year. On his previous convictions he faces up to 20 years of prison time.

Police say Stebelton, who resided Idaho Falls, was driving a two‐door hatchback Scion near Woodruff Avenue and Kearney Street around 6:10 a.m. Thursday morning. Police say they attempted to stop Stebelton for an alleged traffic violation, but he allegedly fled from them at a high rate of speed.

During his flight from police, Stebelton crashed into at least two parked vehicles on the 300 block of Ruth Avenue.

Police officials say Stebelton had in his possession a gun and methamphetamine at the time of the arrest.

Court records show Stebelton has previous convictions for aggravated assault by use of a deadly weapon, attempted strangulation, possession of a controlled substance, grand theft, and possession of forged documents, all felonies.

Stebelton and his 29‐year‐old female passenger were taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries related to the car crash.

Stebelton was later released from the hospital and arrested on charges of felony eluding, felon in possession of a firearm, felony possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and failure to purchase a driver’s license.

Stebelton was booked into the Bonneville County Jail and held on a $75,000. Stebelton is also held on a parole violation agents warrant.
