Man arrested for felony possession of meth and heroin

POCATELLO — A convicted felon that has been on the run has been arrested and found in possession of drugs.

Pocatello Police arrested David W. Cowan, 31, on outstanding felony warrants Saturday afternoon near the 100 block of McKinley Avenue.

In April 2015 Cowan was arrested for felony eluding and felony possession of a control substance. Cowan was given a $100,000 bond, but was later released on his own recognizance.

In January, Cowan pleaded guilty to the two felonies, but court records show he never showed up for his sentencing hearing. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Police officials did not specify how officers came in contact with Cowan on Saturday. After being arrested police discovered Cowan was in possession of just over half a gram of both methamphetamine and heroin.

Cowan was booked into the Bannock County Detention Center and is held with no bond.
