Multiple vehicle burglaries over weekend in Bonneville County

The following is a news release sent out Monday from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.

IDAHO FALLS — Over the weekend the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office took reports of multiple attempted and completed vehicle burglaries in the Ammon and surrounding areas.

The bulk of these crimes may have been prevented had the vehicles been locked, even when left running to warm up from the cold and valuables removed from plain view.

This is also the beginning of the holiday shopping season where we’ve seen, even in the daylight or lit parking areas and neighborhoods, an increase of vehicles being targeted simply because they are unlocked or valuables are left in plain sight.

Take some extra time to make sure your car and property is properly secured so as to prevent these types of crimes. Be watchful of suspicious activity in your neighborhoods and businesses and immediately report it to dispatch so an officer can investigate. Talk to your neighbors about reporting suspicious activity and taking steps for prevention.

As always, anyone with information on suspicious or criminal activity are encouraged to report it immediately to your local Law Enforcement Agency. Individuals wishing to remain anonymous can always report information via Crime Stoppers by calling (208) 522-1983 or online at www.ifcrime.org.
