UPDATE: Woman airlifted from crash after car flies through median, lands on tracks

UPDATE:

The following is an update from Idaho State Police:

On Friday at approximately 8:35 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle injury crash on U.S. Highway 91 at milepost 97, near Blackfoot.

Kirsi Wilcox, 20 of Idaho Falls, was driving 2011 Toyota Prius southbound on I-15 near milepost 89, near Blackfoot.

Wilcox drove into the median and between two bridges and then vaulted over the embankment. Wilcox landed on U.S. Highway 91 below I-15 and rolled, coming to rest on the railroad tracks.

Wilcox was ejected from the vehicle. Wilcox was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Wilcox was transported by air ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center.

Hospital officials say Wilcox is listed as in critical condition.

All lanes of travel were blocked for approximately 1.5 hours.

ORIGINAL STORY:

BLACKFOOT — A car going south on Interstate 15 crashed into the median and landed on a railroad track underneath an overpass near the south Blackfoot exit on Friday morning, Idaho State Police said.

The driver, a woman whose name has not been released, was conscious and talking to first responders after the crash. She was sedated and taken by air ambulance, said the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Multiple law enforcement agencies have responded to the crash.

Traffic on both sides of I-15 is closed.
