IDAHO FALLS — Police are investigating $15,000 worth of tools stolen from a local construction site.

Constructions crews working for local company A-Core — near the 1200 block of Woodruff Ave — showed up to work Monday morning and quickly realized they were missing equipment, according to company management.

Surveillance video of the site shows that at about 2 p.m. Saturday a person entered the construction site across the street from Stone’s Kia on Woodruff Ave.

That person is seen getting into a truck owned by one of the construction companies. The truck leaves, but later returns. The person is then seen backing the truck up and connecting it to a utility trailer owned by A-Core, a company specializing in concrete work.

When the theft was discovered, A-Core employee Cody Rodgers posted the theft on Man Stuff Sale and Trade SE Idaho, a Facebook page followed by more than 40,000 people.

Within hours viewers had spotted the trailer abandoned near Jones Street and Hollipark Drive in Idaho Falls. Viewers reported the location to Rodgers, who went to retrieve it.

The stolen truck was also discovered just around the corner from the trailer, but an expensive welder stored in the bed of the truck was stolen.

Rodgers tells EastIdahoNews.com thieves stole more than $15,000 worth of equipment including two Husqvarna soft cut saws and one Hilti quick saw. Also stolen were employee’s personally owned tools stored in tool bags inside the trailer.

Rodgers said employees had to be sent home because there no tools for them to use.

The Idaho Falls Police confirms they are investigating the theft.
