PRESTON — Idaho State Police are investigating a two vehicle accident on South State Street just north of the intersection of 1600 South.

The accident occurred Saturday.

Authorities say Timothy Salvesen, 50, was driving a 2015 Polaris ATV on a gravel driveway off South State Street. Salvesen backed onto the roadway and was struck by a southbound 1996 Dodge Intrepid driven by Samuel Cann, 19.

Cann was not wearing a seatbelt, but airbags deployed in the Intrepid.

Salvesen and two minor passengers were not wearing helmets. All three were transported via ground ambulance to Franklin County Medical Center. One of the juveniles was later flown by air ambulance to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.

South State Street was blocked for approximately two and a half hours while officers investigated the crash. Idaho State Police was assisted at the scene by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
