RIGBY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of William L. Shinkle on Sunday in connection with an Oct. 27 home invasion and shooting at 4307 E. 300 N. in Jefferson County.

Officials said Shinkle was arrested without incident after being released from the hospital, according to an office news release.

He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, use of a deadly weapon, possession of burglary instruments and possession of a controlled substance. Each count is a felony that could carry the maximum of five years in state prison and/or a $5,000.00 fine per count.

It is unclear when Shinkle will make his first court appearance in reference to the above charges, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing and officials said other arrests are pending. Earlier this month the sheriff’s office said they were seeking information about a second, unnamed suspect who was also involved in the home invasion.
