IDAHO FALLS — A man who burglarized an Idaho Falls gun store and led police on a high-speed pursuit through Rexburg will serve an additional two years in prison, totaling seven years of fixed time.

On Wednesday in Bonneville County, District Judge Bruce Pickett sentenced 30-year-old Travis Castro to two to 10 years in prison for his guilty plea of stealing 16 firearms from Guns N Gear in August.

Pickett ordered that Castro’s two-to-10-year prison sentence from Bonneville County to run consecutive to his Madison County prison sentence of five to 12 years.

The Idaho Falls man pleaded guilty the Bonneville County charges in October and the Madison County charges in September.

Castro was arrested after he led police on a pursuit in Rexburg. Six cars were damaged when Castro plowed through the intersection at Main and Center streets. He hit a vehicle that had a woman and child inside, and a four-wheeler in the back of the truck Castro was driving was thrown onto the road.

During a search of the pickup Castro was driving following the chase, detectives learned the vehicle had been stolen from HK Contractors Inc. in Idaho Falls. Investigators found four guns stolen from Guns N Gear from the truck.
