Gunshot wound victim found at residence near Pocatello High School
Published at | Updated atPOCATELLO — A man is being treated at the hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg and police are asking for the public’s help in the investigation into what happened.
The incident began to unfold around 11:40 a.m. Friday when police and fire units were dispatched to a house on West Lander Street for a man who had suffered a single gunshot wound.
Authorities said the man was transported via Fire Department ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center and his wound is non-life threatening. His name has not yet been released.
The house where the wounded man was located is about two blocks west of Pocatello High School, but the school was not put on lockdown.
Police said they are still trying to determine exactly where the shooting occurred.
Police detectives are investigating the incident but as of Friday evening no information had been released about how the shooting happened or if police have any suspects.
Police stated in a press release: “This is an active investigation and detectives are still locating witnesses or others that may be involved. Anyone having information in reference to this incident is asked to call (208) 234-6100 and ask for the shift commander.”
Multiple police and fire units converged on the two-story wood-frame house on West Lander Street in response to the wounded man at the residence. After the man was transported to PMC, patrol officers could be seen taking photos of the house and interviewing those who live there.
