Bannock County investigating dead cattle dumped in southeast Idaho

  Published at

OXFORD — Law enforcement is investigating the discovery of several dead calves dumped near the small town of Oxford.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said five calves were found dumped in the area of US Highway 91 and Oxford Road.

The calves appeared to have been young animals that didn’t make it through the severe winter. The degree of decomposition indicates that the animals had been there for some time.

All of the calves had green tags in their ears.

The sheriff’s office said the calves did not belong to the individual who owns the property where the animals were found.

Franklin County officials determined that the location where the animals had been dumped was actually in Bannock County and the investigation has been turned to them and the case remains under investigation.

Oxford is located approximately 15 miles southeast of Downey near the Bannock and Franklin county lines.
