DAILY FORECAST: Sun, light winds and continued flood watch

  Published at

IDAHO FALLS — The potential for flooding across eastern Idaho continues for Sunday, March 12.

Emergency management teams report minor flooding southwest of Roberts with water flowing and/or standing on roads. A section of Jefferson County is under a flood advisory, which means significant flooding is imminent or already occurring. Flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of south central Jefferson County, according to the National Weather Service.

The rest of eastern and central Idaho is under a flood watch through midday Monday due to continued high temperatures in the upper 40s and 50s, which is causing rapid snow melt. Some minor flooding is being reported in low-lying areas and near homes in various parts of eastern Idaho.

The following cities are under the flood watch: Burley, Rupert, Heyburn, St. Anthony, Ashton, Island Park, Driggs, Victor, Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Pocatello, Malad City, Oakley, Rockland, Henry, Soda Springs, Downey, Lava Hot Springs, Preston, Montpelier, Hailey, Ketchum, Bellevue, Arco, Challis, and Mackay.

No major road closures are being reported as of 8 a.m. Saturday.
