Description: GUITAR: The Instrument the Rocked the World, Jun 14 – Nov. 30, 2013
Play the world’s biggest guitar, measuring over 43 feet. Discover the secrets of the guitar from construction to sound creation. Watch the guitar’s evolution unfold – spanning thousands of years – from its medieval ancestors to the popular electrics we love today. Presented by Chesbro Music Co. and created by the National GUITAR Museum, GUITAR: The Instrument That Rocked The World offers visitors an entertaining, engaging, and hands-on experience with one of the most important cultural icons in history – the guitar.
Featured items include the world’s largest guitar (43.5ft long x 16 ft wide), the world’s oldest electric guitar, an autographed guitar from Chuck Barry, Muddy Waters’ Guild Thunderbird S-200 electric guitar(circa 1966), and a Harmony Stratotone, formerly owned by Carl Perkins (circa 1953).
