Jolyn Thomas is the host of Idaho’s Afternoon News. She is known for asking the common sense questions that get to the heart of the matter. She makes it a point to talk about issues that often get pushed to the back burner.
Jolyn earned a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Utah State University. Prior to making her home in East Idaho, she did sideline sports reporting for Michigan State University and anchored and reported the news at Fox 47 in Lansing, Michigan and Fox 33 in Cadillac, Michigan.
Jolyn, a former KIDK Channel 3 news anchor, is no stranger to east Idaho news. She loves talking about the issues that hit close to home and offering listeners the chance to be heard.
Jolyn’s investigation into the conviction of Barry Beach earned her the 2014 award for Best Investigative Report from the Idaho State Broadcasters Association. Jolyn also won the ISBA award in 2013 for her investigation into the 1996 murder of Angie Dodge.
As a member of the African American Alliance, Jolyn has had the privilege of helping plan and emcee the Martin Luther King Junior Banquet. She loves helping shatter stereotypes and offering her support to causes that have a positive impact on people’s lives Jolyn spends a lot of time coaching young women in our area about the art of interviewing. She values the experiences she has had emceeing and judging pageants at both the local and state level.
