Probing America

Probing AmericaProbing America 8am – 10am

Mel Richardson began his broadcast career in 1952 as a disc jockey.  In 1958 he expanded his field and entered television.  It was in sportscasting that he found his real love as he broadcast high school games for 34 years and was the voice of the Ricks College Vikings for 16 years, and recreated professional games with the Pioneer league.

Mel has been a highly acclaimed public speaker for over 50 years.  He has been a popular inspirational and motivational speaker for civic groups, high schools, churches, at graduation exercises, and political rallies.

Mel entered the public arena as mayor of Ammon, Idaho and later successfully ran for the State House of Representatives where he served for four years.  Mel then served another 16 years as an Idaho State Senator.  He retired from office in 2008 having received numerous awards and recognitions.

Mel stepped into talk radio in 1993 with his sons Mark, Lance, and Todd.  After Todd left the show to attend law school, Mel, Mark, and Lance joined Talk America and broadcast their show nationwide to 78 stations.  After nearly two years they decided to bring the show back home where they have been since.  Lance was forced to leave the show in 1997 due to illness which took his life in 2004.

Mel and Dixie are the proud parents of five and grandparents and great grandparents of 29 more.  They both continue to be politically active in both radio and local and state politics, although “officially” Mel is retired.

Mark Richardson spent much of his high school and college years either playing ball or broadcasting it with his father, Mel.  He studied history and business at both Ricks College and BYU and then went into the business field.  He joined in Mel and his two brothers in their first talk radio venture in 1993 when they began the Probing America Radio Show.  Mark has worked as co-host and producer of the show ever since.

Mark is the author and producer of two of the features in the show, “The Constitutional Minute,” and “The Principles of Liberty.”  He has spent nearly twenty years studying the foundations of the constitution and the writings of the Framers as well as the works of those who preceded them in establishing the principles of liberty.  With this knowledge as well as the understanding of current affairs he has been a sought after public speaker to civic and political groups.

Mark and Teresa are the proud parents of six daughters and four grandchildren.

Mark: Dick Morris wrote a column titled “Danger–Tax Triggers Ahead” dated May 4th. It concerns the Committee of Six of which Sen. Crapo is a member, and says that the proposal that they will introduce is loaded with hidden taxes. I find it hard to believe that Sen. Crapo would be a party to this. Do you know anything about it?
