Bucks Outlast Brooklyn in Triple Overtime

Bucks Outlast Brooklyn in Triple Overtime

Jed Jacobson/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- In his first trip back to the Barclays Center since leaving the team, Jason Kidd and the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Brooklyn Nets 122-118 in triple overtime on Wednesday. The Bucks (7-5) trailed by eight at halftime but rallied to force extra play.

In the first overtime, Milwaukee actually had a chance to win the game. With the game tied at 105, Brandon Knight picked off a pass from Joe Johnson with 2.9 seconds remaining. Knight then sprinted the length of the court and missed a wide-open layup to send the game into the second overtime.

However, that memory did not stay with Knight long. The guard would end up hitting a game-tying three late in the second overtime, and the game-clinching free throws in the third. Knight finished with 18 points and eight assists in the win.

"My teammates trusted me to make the next shot to force a third overtime, so that's really what it's all about," Knight said, "and we stuck through it as a team."

The Nets (4-7), who lost their fifth straight, were led by a season-high 26 points from Brook Lopez.

Brook Lopez Returns, Nets Dominate Thunder

Brook Lopez Returns, Nets Dominate Thunder

Mike Stobe/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- For the first time in nearly a year, Brook Lopez stepped on the court in an NBA game. The Brooklyn center scored 18 points and pulled in six rebounds as the Nets beat Oklahoma City 116-85 in their home opener on Monday night.

"I can't put it in words," said Lopez, who broke his foot last December and was forced to miss the rest of the season. "It was great to be back out there. I've missed it for a long time and our team definitely took care of business tonight. Our guys make it easy."

Lopez was 6-for-10 from the floor in 24 minutes as the Nets (2-1) notched their biggest home-opening win ever. The center's 18 points was tied for the team-high, with Alan Anderson also pouring in 18 off the bench. Deron Williams added 17 points and nine assists as Brooklyn opened up a 32-19 lead after the first quarter, due in large part to going 5-for-7 from three-point land.

"It was just good to see him have that bounce, explosion," Kevin Garnett said of Lopez's return. "We know he's having foot problems. He's playing through a lot, man. And like I've said, if we're going to be anything, we're going to need the big fellow."

The Thunder (1-3) have been suffering their own injury issues with both Kevin Durant (foot) and Russell Westbrook (hand) unavailable. Reggie Jackson did make his season debut for Oklahoma City after missing the first three games, and scored a game-high 23 points in the loss.

Nets Center Brook Lopez Out 10-14 Days with Foot Injury

Nets Center Brook Lopez Out 10-14 Days with Foot Injury

NBA via Brooklyn Nets(NEW YORK) -- Brooklyn Nets fans are holding their breath as center Brook Lopez will miss the next 10-14 days to deal with a "soft tissue" injury in his surgically repaired right foot.

The team will give him some time off to recover, but his status for the start of the season is in question now.

"X-ray and CT scan studies done Thursday in New York reveal no fractures or bone injuries," Nets medical director Dr. Riley Williams II said in a statement. "Brook has been diagnosed with a mild midfoot sprain and is likely to be out for approximately 10-14 days."

Lopez' health will go a long way in determining just how good the Nets can be this season.

When healthy, Lopez is one of the more offensively skilled centers in the NBA. In his six-year career, the 26-year-old Lopez is averaging 18.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

He's battled injuries in recent years though. He played in just 17 games last season and played in just five games three seasons ago. He's missed 134 games over the last three seasons.

Nets Guard Deron Williams to Undergo Surgery on Both Ankles

Nets Guard Deron Williams to Undergo Surgery on Both Ankles

NBA via Brooklyn Nets(NEW YORK) -- Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams will undergo surgery on both ankles next week, the team announced Thursday.

"He will have a bone chip removed from his right ankle, and the left ankle will have an arthroscopic cleanout with removal of spurs from both the front and back of the ankle," team foot and ankle specialist Dr. Martin O'Malley, who will perform the surgery, said in a statement issued by the team.

For the past two seasons, Williams has been plagued by persistent injuries in both of his ankles. He has received multiple cortisone shots and platelet-rich-plasma injections to help ease the pain, but the problem has not gone away.

Williams averaged just 14.3 points and 6.1 assists in 64 games during the regular season for the Nets, the lowest totals since his rookie year. In 12 playoff games, he averaged 14.5 points and 5.8 assists.  The Nets were eliminated by the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The procedures are scheduled for next Tuesday. The 29-year-old Williams still has three years and $63.1 million remaining on his deal with the Nets.
