Lions Defeat the Bears, 34-17

Leon Halip.Getty Images(DETROIT) -- Megatron simply could not be stopped on Thursday as the Detroit Lions improved to 8-4 on the season after taking down the Chicago Bears 34-17.

Johnson dominated the game as he caught 11 passes for 146 yards two touchdowns. He also crossed the 10,000 receiving yards mark for his career, and became the fastest player in NFL history to do so.

"Guys still believe in what we got going here," Johnson said. "We had a good week of practice -- it was a very short week, but we were very detailed in what we did on the field, coaches taking care of us. It's our part to come out here and do our job on the field."

Lions running back Joique Bell also had a great day, as he carried the ball 23 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns. He was the only Lion with a rushing attempt.

The Lions defense also handled the Bears run game. The team carried the ball eight times for a grand total of 13 yards, good for just 1.6 yards per attempt.

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler completed 31 of 48 passes for two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Lions Roll Past Giants on Monday Night

Lions Roll Past Giants on Monday Night

Leon Halip/Getty Images(DETROIT) -- Matthew Stafford connected with Calvin Johnson twice in the first quarter for touchdowns and never looked back in the Lions 35-14 win over the New York Giants on Monday night.

Stafford passed for 346 yards with two touchdown passes to Johnson in the victory.

"I don't work on my moves a lot during practice, but I know I have to be better with my feet this year so that we can keep plays alive," Stafford said. "On both of the touchdown passes to Calvin, the offensive line got me a lot of time, and he was able to uncover himself and find somewhere open."

Johnson finished with seven receptions, 163 yards, and the two early touchdowns.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who had a career high 27 interceptions last season, added two on opening night and was 18 of 33 for 163 yards with a touchdown.

"No excuses. We played very poorly," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. "We don't have a lot to be proud of here. Couldn't move the ball, couldn't stop them, turned the ball over, got into that business again. Got a punt blocked, so you name it. It was a nightmare performance."

Calvin Johnson: ‘We Need to Win a Super Bowl’

Calvin Johnson: ‘We Need to Win a Super Bowl’

Leon Halip/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Detroit Lions Pro-Bowl wide receiver Calvin Johnson believes the team needs to come through big in 2014.

Johnson joined the NFL Network on Wednesday and said the expectations are simple, Super Bowl or bust.

"We need to win a Super Bowl," Johnson said. "That's the No. 1 thing. That's the No. 1 thing [and] should be for every team going into the beginning of the year."

"We're definitely in a place where we feel we could do that."

Johnson will be playing for new head coach Jim Caldwell after the Lions parted ways with Jim Schwartz in the offseason.

"It's an overall change and vibe here, and we love it," Johnson said of working under Caldwell. "We're going to go out and bust our butts every day because Jim is such a great guy, a great leader for our team. And he's helped bring us together, and we're doing a lot of stuff on our own off the field to keep that camaraderie going."

Johnson had 84 receptions for 1,492 yards and pulled in 12 touchdowns last season.
