Carson Palmer’s Rehab Going Great

Carson Palmer’s Rehab Going Great Streeter Lecka/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer's rehab from his ACL reconstruction surgery is going well.Palmer tore his ACL in Week 10 and is almost four months removed from surgery. He told reporters Thursday that the injury blues have faded.“I started being able to sweat and work out again and really feel like I was training for football as opposed to just doing leg extensions and calf raises and things that feel monotonous or silly at the time,” Palmer said. “The last month or so has been fun again.”Palmer said he throws five days a week and has been running for two or three weeks. The 35-year-old says he's close to being able to participate in a normal workout, and he will definitely be ready for training camp."I'm going to be ready to rock 'n' roll by the season," Palmer said. "Definitely going to be ready by that, definitely going to be ready for camp. And shooting to be getting reps in our mandatory (minicamp) and hopefully some of our OTA practices."Before being injured last season, Palmer started six games, throwing for 1,626 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions. Carson Palmer Exits Cardinals Win with Injury

Carson Palmer Exits Cardinals Win with Injury Streeter Lecka/Getty Images(GLENDALE, Ariz.) -- The Arizona Cardinals improved to an NFL-best 8-1 on the season with a 31-14 win over St. Louis on Sunday. However, team officials are fearful that quarterback Carson Palmer suffered a torn ACL in the fourth quarter and could be out for the rest of the year. Arizona was trailing the 3 and 6 Rams 14-10 entering the fourth quarter, but were driving when Palmer went down. The 34-year-old was carted off the field after clutching the same left knee that was surgically repaired in 2006 after tearing his ACL and MCL in a playoff game against Pittsburgh. "We don't know anything about Carson's injury or the length, whatever it is yet," coach Bruce Arians said. "He will be evaluated and get an MRI and everything and we will know something by tomorrow and hopefully by Tuesday." With their leader sidelined, and the scoreboard not in their favor, the Cardinals turned to Drew Stanton and immediately took control. Stanton found Josh Brown on a 48-yard touchdown pass to take a 17-10 lead before the defense sealed the deal. Patrick Peterson picked off an Austin Davis pass and ran it back 30 yards before Antonio Cromartie recovered a fumble and scored, putting the game out of reach for St. Louis. Davis threw two interceptions for the Rams, who were held to 244 total yards of offense. Prior to the injury, Palmer was 25-for-36 for 241 yards and an interception.  Follow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Arizona Cardinals Give Three Year Extension to Palmer

Arizona Cardinals Give Three Year Extension to Palmer Streeter Lecka/Getty Images(PHOENIX) -- The Arizona Cardinals have signed starting quarterback Carson Palmer to a three-year extension worth $50 million. Palmer was set to become a free agent after this season and has won all five games he's played this year, after missing three games with a shoulder injury. "Carson has played at an incredibly high level and has been a huge part of the team's success," general manager Steve Keim said. "When you combine his on-field performance with the leadership, stability and professionalism he brings to our team, there was no question that we wanted to extend the relationship and we are excited he felt the same way." The Cardinals acquired Palmer from the Raiders in 2013 in a deal in which Arizona swapped its 2013 sixth round pick for Oakland's seventh rounder in the same draft. The Cardinals also surrendered a seventh rounder in the 2014 draft after Palmer started at least 13 games for the Cardinals in 2013. Palmer has won 15 of his 21 starts for Arizona. Cardinals Defeat Cowboys 28-17

Cardinals Defeat Cowboys 28-17 Streeter Lecka/Getty Images(ARLINGTON, TX) -- As Tony Romo sat out with an injured back, the Cowboys offense came to a grinding halt. The Cardinals dominated the Cowboys on Sunday 28-17, as Romo's replacement, Brandon Weeden, provided little threat through the air. Dallas did not score their first offensive touchdown until there was almost one minute left in the game. Weeden finished 18-33 for 183 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Without much of a threat from the passing game, star running back DeMarco Murray could not find much of a groove, as he ran for only 79 yards -- his first game this season in which he did not surpass 100 yads on the ground. Cardinals QB Carson Palmer was on point for most of the day. Outside of an early first-quarter pick-six by Cowboys defensive back Tyler Patmon, Palmer found his targets. He was 22-34 for 249 yards and three touchdowns. The Cardinals are now 7-1 and are in sole possession of the best record in the NFC. Follow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Cardinals Fly High on Late Bomb

Cardinals Fly High on Late Bomb Streeter Lecka/Getty Images(PHOENIX, AZ) --  The Arizona Cardinals won in dramatic fashion, 24-20 over the Philadelphia Eagles. For the majority of the game it was a defensive struggle. The fourth quarter proved to be the most exciting as the offenses began to gain steam. After tieing the game at 17 with 9:01 to go, the Eagles methodically moved the ball on a 13-play seven minute drive down to the Cardinals three. Cody Parkey lined up for the go-ahead field goal and gave Philadelphia a 20-17 lead. With 1:21 remaining in the fourth quarter Carson Palmer heaved a pass up to rookie John Brown.  Brown was screaming past two Eagles defenders reached out and caught the ball.  After a quick stumble, Brown regained his momentum and raced to the endzone for a 75-yard touchdown.  The Eagles mounted a quick rally driving the ball 64 yards to attempt several throws into the Cardinals endzone.  On the final play with one second remaining, pressure in his face, Foles threw up a pass to rookie Jordan Matthews.  Matthews caught the ball but was shoved out by safety Rashad Johnson. The Cardinals move to 6-1 and hold a firm grasp on the NFL West.   Follow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Cardinals Begin Contract Extension Talks with Carson Palmer

Cardinals Begin Contract Extension Talks with Carson Palmer Scott Boehm/Getty Images(TEMPE, Ariz.) -- Armed with one of the best records in the NFL, the Arizona Cardinals have reportedly begun contract talks with starting quarterback Carson Palmer. "I won't get into specific points of the negotiations, but we've had some dialogue with [Palmer's agent] Dave Dunn," Cardinals general manager Steve Keim told the Arizona Republic. "[Palmer] has done a great job for us." The 34-year-old Palmer is in his second season of a three-year contract with the Cardinals, and 11th NFL season overall. His contract will pay him $9 million this season. Palmer has played much better since coming over to Arizona after playing for the Oakland Raiders for two seasons. The Cardinals have seen enough from Palmer to determine they want him leading the franchise for the foreseeable future. The team has gone 12-6 with Palmer as the starting quarterback. In 2013, he threw for a career-high 4,274 yards and became the first player in NFL history to throw for over 4,000 yards in a single season with three different teams. Cardinals Edge Chargers, 18-17, on Monday Night

Cardinals Edge Chargers, 18-17, on Monday Night Scott Boehm/Getty Images(GLENDALE, Ariz.) -- Veteran Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer rallied the Cardinals past the Chargers on opening night with a 13-yard touchdown pass to John Brown late in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals defense did the rest and batted down a Philip Rivers pass on fourth down for the 18-17 win. "It was a sweet little touchdown," Palmer said of Browns first-career touchdown. "That's what he does. He's so shifty. It's like somebody's controlling him with a joystick. He is so quick and so hard to find on those little quick screens." Arizona was down 17-6 entering the fourth quarter and Palmers' two touchdown passes in the fourth gave them the lead for good. Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald had only one reception in the fourth quarter, but kept his streak alive at 150 games with at least one reception. "Too many mistakes. Too many mistakes in crucial times," Rivers said after the game. "We had plenty of opportunities. Offensively, we had too many mistakes in crucial times that turned into points."
