Robert Griffin III Exits with Dislocated Ankle

Robert Griffin III Exits with Dislocated Ankle

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(LANDOVER, Md.) — The Washington Redskins (1-1) dominated Jacksonville, 41-10 on Sunday, but did it without starting quarterback Robert Griffin III. The third-year signal caller was carted off the field after suffering a dislocated ankle in the first quarter.

Backup quarterback Kirk Cousins played admirably in relief, throwing for 250 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Jaguars (0-2).

Griffin is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, but could miss the remainder of the season.

“I’m just trying to stay in a good place,” said Griffin. “Our spirits are high. We’re always thinking positive. We’ll see what happens tomorrow and whatever information comes out, we’ll know what the timetable is from there.”

This marks the second time in his career that Griffin faces a potential season-ending injury. In 2012, Griffin suffered a torn ACL in his right knee, forcing him to miss the final four games of the regular season.
