Cavaliers Fire Head Coach Mike Brown

Cavaliers Fire Head Coach Mike Brown

NBA/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- After just one season back in Cleveland, the Cavaliers have fired head coach Mike Brown. The team made the announcement Monday afternoon.

"Mike worked hard over this last season to move our team in the right direction," Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert said in a statement. "Although, there was some progress from our finish over the few prior seasons, we believe we need to head in a different direction. We wish Mike and his family nothing but the best."

This is not Brown's first tenure with the Cavaliers. He coached the team for five seasons from 2005-2010 when the team had Lebron James. He was let go by the team following the 2009-2010 season.

The team also announced Monday that David Griffin has been promoted as the team's full-time general manager.

This past season, the Cavaliers went 33-49, which was ninth-worst in the NBA.
