Jimmie Johnson Wins Second Consecutive Sprint Cup Race

Jimmie Johnson Wins Second Consecutive Sprint Cup Race

Jerry Markland/Getty Images(DOVER, Del.) -- Jimmie Johnson is at it again.  The six-time Sprint Cup champion took home the checkered flag for the second consecutive weekend after a win at Dover International Speedway on Sunday.

Johnson won last weekend's Coca-Cola 600.

Brad Keselowski won the pole and made a late rally, but fell short and finished in second.

"It's amazing that we can stay on top of things here with the different generation car, different rules, different tires," Johnson said. "This place just fits my style and (crew chief) Chad Knaus' style."

Kyle Busch's bid at a sweep this weekend took a turn for the worst after the No. 18 Toyota slammed into the wall 124 laps into the 400-lap race and was forced into the garage. Busch won the Nationwide Series race earlier in the weekend.

Matt Kenseth, Clint Bowyer and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top five.

Kyle Busch Wins Nationwide Race at Dover

Kyle Busch Wins Nationwide Race at Dover

Chris Graythen/Getty Images for NASCAR(DOVER, Del.) -- Kyle Busch is one win away this weekend at Dover from a clean sweep after he won the Nationwide Series race on Saturday.

Busch followed his Truck Series win with a dominant performance to take home the checkered flag and will set his sights on Sunday's race.

"I do it for the pure love of the sport and just wanting to be out there," Busch said. "I'll keep doing it as long as we can do it."

Busch led 124 of 200 laps for his 66th career victory in the N'wide Series.

"I've got a 134 of 'em now and none of them mean nothing," Busch said of his 134 career wins in all the series. "Hopefully, someday, the big ones come."

The last time Busch had a three-race sweep was in 2010 at Bristol.

"It seems like the last one is always the hardest one," he said. "That's due to just the competition."

Jimmie Johnson Wins Coca-Cola 600

Jerry Markland/Getty Images(CONCORD, N.C.) -- Jimmie Johnson won the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Sunday, helping him qualify for NASCAR's new postseason format.

After winning the pole on Thursday, the six-time Sprint Cup champion led 165 of the 400 laps en route to Victory Lane. It was the first win of the season for Johnson, marking his 13th straight season with a victory.

The defending Cup champion also picked up his fourth win in the 600, and a record seventh victory at Charlotte.

Johnson passed Matt Kenseth with nine laps to go and was never threatened on his way to the checkered flag. Kevin Harvick finished second after leading 100 laps while Kenseth took third. Carl Edwards and Jamie McMurray rounded out the top five. McMurray won the All-Star race in Charlotte last week.

Danica Patrick Ready for Coca-Cola 600

Danica Patrick Ready for Coca-Cola 600

Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images for NASCAR(NEW YORK) -- Danica Patrick is hoping to have a special moment in time at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday.

Patrick is coming off a career-best seventh-place finish at Kansas Speedway at the last Sprint Cup race and spoke with ABC Sports Radio on Thursday about this weekend's Coca-Cola 600.

"Can't say that I have a favorite moment for it," Patrick said of the Coca-Cola 600. "I don't think any of them would be my favorite because their the moments that I make that make it the best."

"I'm going to try and make this one the most memorable one yet," she added.

Patrick has struggled during her transition from IndyCar to NASCAR and has just one other top-10 finish -- it came at last year's Daytona 500, when she started from the pole and finished eighth.

"Take it race by race," Patrick said. "Some are going to be great and some aren't. We're happy that the last one we came off of in Kansas was the best one yet. There's lots for us to be confident from and lots to learn from."

McMurray Wins Sprint Cup All-Star Showdown

McMurray Wins Sprint Cup All-Star Showdown

Chris Graythen/Getty Images(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) -- Jamie McMurray picked up a huge paycheck on Saturday, winning the $1 million Sprint Cup All-Star showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway. McMurray led a race-high 31 laps and edged out Carl Edwards on the final two laps following a restart.

It was the first All-Star victory for McMurray who had never led a lap in his prior seven appearances. His previous highest finish in the exhibition was eighth. A 40-1 underdog to win, the 37-year old was second for a restart with 10 laps remaining.

"As a kid, that is what you grew up wanting to do, is have a shootout like that and have a possibility to race for 10 laps," McMurray said. "(Edwards) got a little bit of a jump on me on the restart and I was able to hang on to his quarter panel, and when we kept entering Turn 1 and 3, I was like, `It is for a million bucks. If we wreck, it's not that big of a deal.'

McMurray passed Edwards with two laps remaining while Edwards fell back and finished fifth. Kevin Harvick took second while Matt Kenseth and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. rounded out the top five.
