Customers frustrated in wake of Simply Mac closure as items remain locked inside

AMMON – Since the closure of the Simply Mac store in Ammon, multiple people have reported having items inside and not being able to access them.

Simply Mac at 2694 East Sunnyside Road unexpectedly closed on June 9 after the company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Store Manager Christian Parker was instructed not to open that day, despite having multiple customer repairs left to complete. He is now locked out and no longer has access to get in and return customers’ items.

Senior Advisers with Apple were reportedly able to help those impacted by the store closure, but many frustrated customers report it is not helpful. Employees on the other end of the phone were either dismissive or unaware of the bankruptcy, several customers tell EastIdahoNews.com.

Parker, who is no longer with the company and feels horrible about what’s happened, offers his recommendation.

“From what I have been told, it’s mixed reception. For people who can’t get (in to get their stuff), I would recommend they continue to ask (and) escalate (the issue) until they get someone who can help,” Parker says.

The number for Apple customer support is 800-275-2273. Ask for a senior adviser and explain that your Mac device was impacted by the Simply Mac bankruptcy, is locked in the store and that you’d like your items returned or a new device at no cost.

As of Thursday, Parker says he spoke to someone in the company several days ago, who explained that the store had been approved to reopen in the next week or two “but there are some moving parts.”

“I did speak with the owners of the property. If the store takes much longer to open, they are going to be reaching out to customers to have them pick up their devices. (All devices are organized in the back with paperwork and contact info for each device),” Parker explains.

For other customers needing new product or repairs to their Apple devices, iSource at 76 West 2nd South, Ste. C in Rexburg is an Apple-certified store. Owner Devin Dial is looking into opening a store in Idaho Falls in response to the Simply Mac closure.
