The Horse Butte Wind Project east of Idaho Falls held a public celebration Wednesday afternoon. Local News 8 reports that the project began last November on 17,000 acres of private land far away from any major population centers. 32 turbines standing over 450 feet tall will dot the foothills when they’re all completed this fall. Officials allowed visitors to sign one of the turbine blades in an effort to celebrate clean energy and to boost the local economy. The project will provide power for customers in Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, and California.
