An Officer Stops A Brush Fire Before It Gets Out Of Control

Officer Jake Pokorny from the Pocatello Police Department is being hailed a hero after he was able to stop a brush fire before it got out of control. Local news 8 reports that just after 2am on Tuesday, Officer Pokorny noticed a driver acting suspicious.  Officer Pokorny pulled to the side of the road, turned off his lights and observed the driver.  Shortly after, he noticed the driver pull to the side of the road and toss a lit emergency car flare out of his window.  Instantly, Officer Pokorny turned on his lights and pulled Glenn Thor, 32, over.  Suddenly a brush fire ignited from the flare.  Pokorny jumped on his radio and issued an emergency call to the Pocatello Fire Depatment.  The PFD was able to put out the flames before they could reach nearby houses.  Thor was charged with felony 3rd degree arson.  A tragedy was averted due to the observation and quick response from Officer Pokorny and the Pocatello Fire Department.
