Officer Down After Shots Were Fired

UPDATE: (AP) — Officials in south-central Idaho have identified the man who was killed when Idaho State Police and the gunman exchanged gunfire in The Hampton Inn, in Twin Falls . The Twin Falls County prosecutor’s office says 43-year-old Tracy L. Ivie of Lindon, Utah, was shot and killed Friday morning.

UPDATE:  (magicvalley.com) – The gunman has been identified as Clark Cleveland, 27, of Spring Creek, Nev.

UPDATE: Local Law Enforcements will hold a press conference today to fill the public in on what happened in regards to the hostage situation/officer shooting in Twin Falls today. You can watch LIVE streaming video of the conference at Magicvalley.com/live at 1 p.m.

UPDATE #15: Confirmed via Times News. At 11:24 a.m., radio dispatch announced “Hostage is released, suspect is in custody”

UPDATE #14: Twin Falls Police spokesman Luke Allen confirmed to the Times News that the gunman has one hostage in the hotel room he has barricaded himself in.  Police are still negotiating with the gunman.

UPDATE #13: Confirmed, a bystander has been killed.

UPDATE #12: One witness says that the suspect hit a parked recreational vehicle with his car. There is also a report that a woman was inside the RV and suffered minor injuries.  There are also reports that a SUV was also hit during the chase. Officer Luke Allen, with the Twin Falls police department, told the Times-News on their LIVE streaming video feed that there was also a passenger inside the suspect’s vehicle and is in police custody now on (10:47am)

UPDATE #11: The gunman is in negotiations with law enforcement.  He is requesting to have beer and cigarettes be brought to him. (10:29am)

UPDATE #10: We have confirmation of the location of the snipers and SWAT teams on site.  We will not post these updates out of respect for local law enforcement, as their positions could be compromised if the media reports them.

UPDATE #9: All the lamps were on in the windows facing the streets. They are all off now.  Law enforcement officers believe the suspect has barricaded himself in a room all alone.  However, there are conflicting reports of possible hostages.  Streets are blocked off.  SWAT teams have just entered the hotel.

UPDATE #8: The people who were evacuated from the Hampton Inn are being taken in school buses to a local church until further notice.  It is still unconfirmed whether there are any hotages or anyone remaining in the hotel with the gunman.

UPDATE #7: Witnesses describe the suspect as a white male in his mid-20’s, wearing a hat and has a goatee.

UPDATE #6: Reports are coming in about the wounded officer. Allegedly, an ISP officer was shot in the leg.

UPDATE #5: The officer who was shot is on his way to the hospital, his condition is still unknown.  One person is confirmed dead.  Possible hostages on the third floor.  SWAT teams are getting everyone out of the Hampton Inn to prepare for crossfire.

UPDATE #4: SWAT is now responding

UPDATE #3: A male suspect is holding an unknown amount of people hostage at a Hampton Inn Hotel in Twin Falls.  It was just confirmed that an officer was shot, and multiple law enforcement agencies have surrounded the hotel.  Police said that they can see one body lying on the floor of the hotel.  It is not confirmed yet whether or not this individual is dead.

UPDATE #2: An officer is confirmed down.

UPDATE #1: Shots have been fired.

The standoff began at began at 8am this morning, when Idaho State Police pulled  over an unidentified vehicle.  The driver of the vehicle had the the strong scent of alcohol on his breath. When the officer asked him to step out of the car, the suspect drove off, which in turn began a high speed chase on the west end of Twin Falls.  The driver headed toward Pole Line Rd, and ended up at The Hampton Inn on Fillmore St.

The suspect is a male, and is armed and dangerous.
