Animals and Children At Risk

Warm temperatures and sunny skies make this summer a great time for pet owners to take their animals out for rides in cars, but leaving them in the vehicle even for a short time can lead to dangerous situations. KIDK reports that animals are especially vulnerable to heat this time of year, when temperatures inside cars can reach up to 140 degrees. Police say they will respond to any calls of children or pets left in cars that appear to be in distress. Officials say cars with tinted windows and dark interiors carry a higher risk of potential problems for pets.
