Former Lunch Lady Charged for Sex with Student

(MERIDIAN) – A former Meridian High School cafeteria worker has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy. 48-year-old Laurie J. Matthews has been charged with sexual battery of a minor. Police began the investigation after being contacted by the victim’s parents. Matthews was allegedly involved with the teen from September of last year until January of this year. High school administrators say Matthews was fired last November, but did not reveal the reason why. Matthews, who is free on bond, is due back in court tomorrow (Tuesday).
