West Nile Confirmed in S.E. Idaho

(POCATELLO) – The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has confirmed that at least one case of West Nile Virus has been reported in southeast Idaho. A man in his 50s was reportedly hospitalized sometime last week. Mosquitoes testing positive for the virus have been discovered in Emmett, about 20 miles northwest of Boise. Only three Idahoans were infected with the virus last year. Idaho’s led the nation in West Nile illnesses 2006, when over 1,000 people caught the virus – contributing to 23 deaths.
