(HONOLULU) — Hawaii’s own Norm Chow is headed home. He was introduced on Thursday as the new head coach of the Hawaii football program.
The 65-year old Chow has been at five schools in over four decades of coaching. He’s also provided three national championships.
“I’m excited to get going, I can’t wait to meet our team, I can’t wait to put a staff together,” said Chow. “It’s just an exciting time.”
Chow who is an island icon who previously served as offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans, UCLA, Southern California, North Carolina State and Brigham Young.
“For years I’ve come over here to recruit, telling young people to leave home,” an emotional Chow said.
Now he’ll be telling those same kids to stay home and make Hawaii proud.
