Sunday, the NHL suspended Boston defenseman Andrew Ference three games for his hit on Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh during the Rangers 3-2 overtime victory on Saturday.

The hit came at the 1:50 mark in overtime, sending McDonaugh slamming into the boards. He was seen grabbing his head after the hit, but eventually skated off the ice with Rangers trainer Jim Ramsay in tow.

Ference was assessed a five minute charging major and was slapped with game misconduct. The Rangers ended up capitalizing on the power play and winning the game with just 3.6 seconds left on the clock.

Ference said after the game that he had no intention of injuring McDonagh.
