Onterio McCaleeb, filling in for suspended star running back Mike Dyer, rushed for over 100 yards and scored twice as the Auburn Tigers defeated the Virginia Cavaliers in the Chick-fil-A Bowl Saturday night, 43-24.

Dyer, an All-SEC selection, wasn’t the only offensive cog the Tigers were missing. They lost starting quarterback Clint Moseley, after their second possession of the game, with an injured right ankle. Barrett Trotter and Kiehl Frazier took over under center, combining for 175 passing yards and three touchdowns.

“We felt like we had a good balance in terms of what we did, practice wise, to get us to the point where we can play in this game,” Auburn head coach Gene Chizik said.

A year after Cam Newton led Auburn to their second national championship in school history; the Tigers finished the 2011 campaign with an 8-5 record.
