Beckham Signs Two Year Deal with Galaxy
Published at(CARSON, CA) — David Beckham signed a two year contract to stay with the Los Angeles Galaxy, according to the Galaxy.
It will be announced publicly at a 2 p.m. PT news conference held at the Staples Center.
Beckham, now 36, has spent the last five seasons with the Galaxy, helping the team win a championship last year and raising the profile of soccer in the States nearly singlehandedely–or singlefootedly.
He was courted by clubs in Italy, England, Brazil and the Middle East.
According to sources close to the process, a big part of what lured Beckham back to LA was the teams willingness to let Beckham play for the English Olympic Team if he is chosen.
During his previous five years with the Galaxy, Beckham has scored 11 goals and tallied 31 assists.
