Colts owner Jim Irsay has fired vice chairman Bill Polian and his son, general manager Chris Polian. The Colts had a dismal season on the gridiron, finishing the 2011 campaign 2-14. They were without their 11-time Pro Bowl quarterback Peyton Manning, who missed the entire season as he recovered from neck surgery.

When Irsay was asked if head coach Jim Caldwell will return for the 2012 season, he replied, “I would anticipate that the new general manager would be hired before we confirm Jim is going to be back or we are going to go in another direction,” Irsay said. “I’m not saying that’s definitely the way it’s going to happen.”

Their ineffectiveness on the field has led the Colts to securing the overall number-one pick in this year’s NFL Draft, at which they are expected to select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.
